I have a MY07 with 2500 miles, and I have the annoying 2nd gear grind. The grind takes the fun away from driving the S2000. I've read and people have said the grind goes away after 15-20 minutes of driving, but for me it doesn't and the grind stays for about an hour. Should I go back to Honda for a check up? I know that the MY07 comes with the new Honda manual transmission fluid and a lot of people have said it has helped.

also a thing to consider is when shifting to second make sure you pull all the way to the left then down.

and when i got my car it had 33k on it and it grinded 2nd and 3rd. then i put that new Honda MTF and it did help.

if nothing seems to make it work. check the dealer. got a warranty might as well abuse it right =]

leave it in neutral for a bit before shoving it into 2nd. give the synchros a lil break, help em out a bit by letting it rest in neutral for a bit.

Seems to be an common problem with S2000's. My MY02 does the same thing, after a drive on the freeway longer than 15 to 20 miles, I know I'm gonna get cruchy. I'm using the GM FM Sychromesh now and it still grinds after a long drive, it's the heat in the tranny and how it effect the expansion of metals inside that's causing the grind.

What I'd like to know is as the tranny wears did the grind get worse for most people or better?

if you prevent the grind it won't get worse.

let it rest in neutral for a little bit before throwing it into 2nd.

Clutch fluid change, and clutch rod adjustment is the best easy fix.

I had the same problem. Did some minor adjusting.. Works a treat now..

I know you mean well, but I don't want to shift like that. One of the strong selling points of the car for me is the quick, smooth, short throw shifter. If I have to stop in neutral for a second, why would I bother to run it up to Vtec in first gear at all? I will lose any acceleration advantage by waiting for a second before shifting to second. Your fix takes the fun out of both first and second gear. If that is the solution, my car will be for sale soon.

The bottom line here is there is something wrong with these trannys and we are all better off if we can find a solution short of a rebuild. I didn't buy this thing to shift it like a granny.

Did it, made it better for about 10K, now it is the same as before.
