Seat belt questions
Hi guys, just lately I've relised that my seat belt does not get wund in properly. I have to feed it in. Does it mean I have to get a whole new seat belt or can I change some parts?? Cheers

Actually, I got a "recall" letter for this. It was mostly MY2000 that was affected, so if it hasn't been done by now, I'm not sure they'll do it for free. I don't think there is a time limit for recalls.

The belt may be twisted behind the roll bar. Or the belt guide may be dirty causing the belt to drag when retracting.
The retractor recall was not for slow to retract, it was due to the retractor actuator can deform and cause complete or frequent locking of the retractor. As a result, the seat belt cannot be used.
As a side note, The lifetime seatbelt warranty is limited, and does not cover slow to retract.

xviper, I think you are correct. I do not believe there is no time limit for recalls on the cars restraint system. When the recall for MY 00 came out, I visited my dealer and expressed concern about the invasiveness of the work required to change the retraction mechanism. Basically, everything from the seats to the trunk must come out. They told me to come back when the seat belt demonstrated the failure mode. That is, when remained locked in the extended position. They emphasized that there is no time limit on having a recall done on the seat belt.
Since the failure mode is a locked seat belt, I felt safe in continuing to drive until it fails and avoiding the dealer ripping into a new car. It's been almost 5 years without a problem. I understand that a plastic piece in the retract mechanism deforms under conditions of high temperature. The recall part has a metal tensioner.

The replacement parts use a plastic inertia lock mechanism, just like the originals. ( trust me, I ve put them in )
Safety recalls don't have an expiration date. Other recalls/product updates do.
