I don't know why you keep saying you're too young to rent a car. Enterprise rents to 18-25 year old customers ... they just charge you an extra $5-$10 a day to do so. I'd say that's well worth potential damage to your vehicle.

Total cost after parts and misc....around $3,000. I did all the wrok my self and purchased a new short block from hardtopguy and also had the head re-worked since it was off the car. Other wise it would have been closer to $2500. If I had to pay someone it would have been a lot more!

I hope your problem is small..just make sure you attened to it quickly

The guy either dosen't know what he's talking about, or he's just snowing you. Ask him to try anyway. If you can get the codes pulled with a scantool it's 1000 times better then the blinking light method.
I know you've already been warned, but I have to agree if the CEL is/was blinking you shouldn't be driving it. Good luck.

Lower compression, and the spewing of oil out the tail pipes as has already been mentioned.

For me I think it was oil pressure...I was turbocharged. But you never know, his car died twice while using this stuff....not good in my opinion and the soot shooting out of the tail pipe is an indication of oil getting by the rings like my car did.

My car idled fine and drove well, its was the low rpm's (2000-3500) where you could tell the car was not right (it would "buck" bad) and it ate a quart of oil every 300 miles!
