screeching noise around 3k
So I have this weird screeching type noise about 3200rpm and its really weird, like a metal on metal type sound. It reminds me of a pulley squeeling but it goes away and is only for about 400 rpms or so. Its not super loud but you can definetly hear it and i have an Invidia N1 so thats saying something.
I have changed my oil and it was happening before that anyway.
Any ideas?

Does is change when you press the clutch pedal? Then, maybe throwout or pilot bearing
Is your car under warranty?
Also, check these threads for potential causes.

thanks for the reply
i'm sure its not the intake, I have heard it a bunch of times. It is more of a whistle than a squeak, also this is louder.
It still happens no matter if the clutch is depressed, it does it when its not even in gear. While idling i can rev it up to those rpms and it will make the noise.
I have about 46000 miles so idk if the warranty i do have would cover it.

Not sure what that could be. Perhaps open up the hood and apply some gas and see if you can visually notice an issue. At that rpm, it does sound like an intake issue. Perhaps you should check all your connections?

your s2000 is in self destruction mode. I'd get out while I still can... sorry, couldn't resist. I think the members who posted in this thread pretty much answered it already, so once again, sorry
