Default Sanity Check

Hi guys, I don't drive the S2k much (only has 20k miles) and have forgotten how it sounds, lol. Anyway, is our engine really this noisy? It sounds like there's a constant beat going on. Does anything sound out of the ordinary? It also feels more pronounced after a spirited drive.

I hear lots of valvetrain noise in video 2 but I think it's normal. Also, considering your mileage, I'd say it's very likely you don't need to adjust your valves yet. My S2000 is very noisy too, even after a valve adjustment.

To protect your engine, just always make sure the oil is at the H mark. Check it every time before you drive it on a cold engine and look for the lowest reading on the dipstick. Also, wipe the dipstick clean, put it back in, wait a second, and then take it out for another reading.

Sorry if I may sound a bit too "basic" but I feel that maintaining the oil is really important on S2000s.

when i first start my car up, i have a weird whistling noise for awhile and when it stops it sounds like a turbo blow off. To me your car sounds normal. nothing out of the ordinary but our cars are pretty loud. I can hear from my room when i warm it up in the garage.

Yup! Better safe than sorry, especially with S2000s because I've seen lots of engine failures related to oil issues on this forum and because early S2000s tend to consume a fair amount of oil when driven hard.

Sorry I don't know what that whistling sound is though. It's best to have someone hear it in person if you really feel it could be a problem.

And an 02 with just 20,000 miles?! I wish I had your car!

I think you might be confusing me with nartnailuj. Mine is an '07 with 20,000 miles.
