You pretty much need to get a replacement; search for the Puddy Mod differentials.

If you're at the drag strip and you for some reason just have to launch the car, it is recommended by most to do a 7k dump in order to generate some wheel spin and thus reduce the stress on the drivetrain. If you dump it at 4-6k there's a good chance you will just hook and that means the drivetrain is getting hit with full force.

Personally I don't launch my car. The only way I would do it is if I had a replacement diff ready to go in the all-too-likely event that I break my original.
Oh, you can't just swap in new gears?

you can, but thats not what breaks...its the ring and pinion and housing that are weak

If you ever have a track day limit yourself to 2 or 3 launches that day, anything higher than that and your pushing your luck. Goodluck with your rear end if you abuse it.
Lots of misinformation and poor logic in this short post. No car company has a designed a car with simply auto-x in mind, if it was desgined for any type of racing it was circuit racing. How have you come to the conclusion that two to three launches on a track day are the differentials limit? There are way to many variables for you to even try and put a number on how many launches it can take in a day. I also got a kick out of grouping Civics in with Corvettes and what not for "clutch dropability."

OP, you will not really need to engage the clutch like this. The ass end will come out enough I think you will be ok.

There is a hugh difference in dropping the clutch to launch in a straight line, or doing so while turned and moving slightly to kick the rear out.

I have done the later hundreds of times.

I've had a lot of cars that I wasn't afraid to do redline clutch drops on never blew a rear-end in any of them but it does transfer a lot of stress, I had a modified 78 trans-am and did quite a few 5k clutch drops over time and one time I broke almost all the studs on both rear wheels. I have never done one with my S, just not that kind of car I.M.O.
