Default Safe to drive with duct tape over oil filler hole?

I lost my oil filler cap.

is it safe to drive 30-40 miles with duct tape over the oil filler cap, or maybe napkins taped over it.

any ideas or recommendations?

I read your post in the So Cal forum and I'm still

I have no clue if its safe or not. I would help but I'm still at work. Good luck though.

I definitely wouldn't do it. Maybe ask a friend for a ride to your local Honda dealership or borrow someone's car? Definitely no napkins though, the oil will eat that right up and the little paper bits will get in your engine and make a mess.

It's fine as long as you do it right. Wad up some cloth and hold it on with duct tape. Don't insert it too far.

There is little to no pressure in the valve cover as it is vented tot he intake anyway. The only fear is oil splattering out and the cloth should stop this.

And get a decent cap quick. You may even find yours sitting on top of the tranny.

If it screws in and doesn't fall off, I'd consider it decent.

I'd consider it decent.

I've had my OEM oil cap mysteriously screw it's self out twice. The second time I couldn't find the cap anymore. I went to Autozone and bought one for temporally fix. I ended up keeping the Autozone one and haven't had a problem a year now.
