Default SAFC Neo.....VAFC 2 questions.

Sorry guys, Im kind new to these items. I was hoping someone could break it down in easy to follow terms as to what these gadgets do and how heavily modded you need to be to have it.

thanks.

VAFC can add or lower fuel based on points. It can also lower your vtec engagement. You can be totally stock to have one. I wouldn't use one on a highly modded car though. It does have limited tuning capabilities.

It can be done on any car stock or modded. Basically you adjust how much fuel is entering the engine. You can add or subtract fuel to try to achieve an air fuel ratio of about 13 where our engines make most power. You can also lower or raise the vtec point which doesnt really make much of a difference in ap1s.

I gained about 10whp with mine but having an early AP1 my car was running really rich. On an AP2 you wouldnt see much gains with one and I would recommend a real engine management system that could raise the redline to about 8500 and lower vtec a bit and youll be making really good power in that area.

I wonder why he is selling it?

Also, whats a better alternative to a "real" engine management system?

Wouldnt lowering the v-tec point be a bonus with anyone?

Not necessarily. AP1s under 5800 or so actually make more power with the low cam lobe. AP2s can be lowered to about 5000 and still make plenty power.

The best engine management system is definately the AEM EMS, but it is pretty pricey at 1000 dollars. Most people only use it if theyre going turbo or supercharged.

Theres also the greddy emanage ultimate which is pretty good for around 500ish. I would recommend that one for an AP2.

Could sell it because maybe hes selling the car and wants to go back to stock or hes going FI and needs the AEM.

So if im bone stock, the Greddy Emanage Ultimate will simply lower my Vtec point to 5k and raise the red line to 8500? roughly? Is this in any way harmfull to the engine?

Lastly, if the AP2 is then making all its power sooner then it normally would, would it then be loosing some later on? or any at all through the power band?

Sorry for the questions, im just trying to become as knowledgable as you all.

You would need to take it to a reputable tuner in your area, he hooks up a laptop to the ECU and he makes all the adjustments there. Every car is different so dont think that theres a magic vtec/redline number. A good tuner will know exactly what to do, you wont be able to do this yourself. Generally the AP2 makes more power throughout the entire powerband with a lower vtec due to the bigger displacement.

If you do buy the emanage you will need to pay more to have it installed and tuned, total cost of everything will probably be around 900ish with tuning/dyno time. Youll get lots of gains throughout the entire powerband and the car will feel great.

Hello, thanks for the advertisement everyone...lol. I am selling it since I went turbo and am now using AEM. It worked great for leaning out the mixture and gaining some extra power in the midrange and holding power to redline.
