OK, if you're not a troll, then you need a better understanding of two things.

First, you need to understand how VTEC works. The ECU selects either the mild cam profiles or the VTEC cam profiles. The car is running one one or the other, and there is no in between. It's all or nothing. The ECU selects the profiles by determining whether oil pressure is applied to the pins that engage the VTEC profile. The amount of oil pressure (as long as it isn't below normal) has nothing to do with when or how much/hard the VTEC "engages," because that is determined entirely by the ECU. It is a binary switch that is either on, or off. The fact that it uses both electronics and hydraulics doesn't change the binary nature of the beast in any way.

Next, you need to understand how unreliable subjective evaluations are. If you put a loud intake and/or exhaust on a car, it will be *subjectively* faster, even if it is objectively slower, because our brains equate the noise with speed and power. If you make a mod that you *expect* to make more power, you are likely to *feel* more power, even if the car is actually slower. That's called "expectation bias" (among other things). Failure to recognize this natural human characteristic often leads to a cult-like belief in things that actually make no sense at all.

I love this site. Where else can one simultaneously learn about their S2000 and get a psychology refresher. Somewhere around here there's a debate over Newtonian physics. It will be interesting to see if the laws have changed in the last few minutes.

Actually, I do understand and am impressed by the depth of knowledge over a diverse range subjects I've encountered on this site. There used to be a saying about how one could meet the nicest people while driving a Honda, well, I think the ad men left off "smartest." I could be biased, however.

Unfortunately I don't have a link to the debate, but I can tell you it had something to do with acceleration vs. velocity vs. weight and it was hilarious.

I wire up all my cars with VTEC solenoids for 24 Volts (Civic, Integra R, TL, MDX, & S2000...wish my CBR1000RR had VTEC). It definitely makes the solenoid hit harder therefore engaging VTEC much faster (almost a millisecond quicker into the bigger lobes). Come on people, I have seen this JDM VTEC solenoid topic for almost ten years so please kill it already.
