s2k engine rebuild advice!
Hi all, Im new to this fourm and new to s2000 ownership,
My car has put the piston out the side of the block at 75k, it didnt run low on oil so not sure why yet!
I've got myself a new bottom end and and will be fitting the old head, i have new headgasket at the min and was wondering wot else i need to change when im down to that level. it had a new chain 10k ago so will be ok along with tensioners. will the head bolts be ok and do u have any helpfull tips for when i'm putting back together?
any advice will be greatfull recived but know i'm running low on funds from buying bottom end so dont want to change things just for the sake of it,

Well, before you rebuild, do you have plan of upgrading the power?
If you do, you better tell us if forced induction or simply bolt on stuff.
If you are putting it back together in the stock form, my best advice is to plan it carefuly and do it once!! No mistakes!
Rebuilding combustion engine has step by step procedures. Everyone knows. Replace the parts that you need to replace, don't shortcut the job, replace the used parts----don't be too cheap.

I would definately replace the oil pump. Other than that if the bottom end is new, you shouldn't have problems with the old head but while it's out, think about upgrading your retainers and doing a valve job.
