S2000 wont start, relays click, no spark
Ive got an 02. Recent engine swap (lost compression in no1 cyl).
Car ran fine for a few months, with the exception of the speedo/temp gauge being very inaccurate.
One day I went to get gas, and it wouldnt start, just clicking at the dash. I rolled it down hill a bit and it started right up, so I chalked it up to being a flat spot in the starter. The problem happened more and more frequently until I could only jump start it.
I repllaced the starter, and it ran fine for three days.
I stopped to go the the ATM, and all of a sudden same problem: relay clicks at the dash, no crank.
If I half press the clutch, the relays in the dash do not click, so it would appear that the clutch interlock is not the issue. The battery is not the issue, its less than a year old, and voltage test is good.
I'm at a loss to where to go here

I'm curios, how does connecting the obd2 scanner bypass the faulty ground? Its not that I don't believe you, I'm wondering about the technical aspects behind it. Any chance you can extrapolate?
I won't be able to test the OBD two scanner until five or six tonight.

Well the scanner did not allow it to start, so that was bogus info. I didn't really think it would if the issue was a poor ground.
Regardless, the issue ended up beng the aux conector to the starter, the one with the spade connector.

Check the ground wire on the back of the cylinder head. (Not related to your starting problem)
If your speedometer was lagging, I guarantee it is loose or disconnected.

Check all the large gauge wiring connected to the starter and battery. Clean & tight.
