Default S2000 warped pistons

Hey guys, my brother's s2000 was recently acting up and had problems.

It would not idle properly and would stall if you were to throw it in neutral when you are making a stop. We took it to the Honda dealership and they said the clutch needed to be replaced and the engine too which they quoted for roughly $9000. It progressively got worse over time, but when we went to pick it up from the dealership it was really bad. The car would not start up properly without a jump and was barely able to drive without stalling in any of the gears.

After that we took it to a friend's shop and they told us that the engine had warped pistons. So I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before and what are the best options to do for this ?

My brother would get this car running for $4000, but no more than that.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks !

Just when you thought you heard it all. You need a real technician to diagnose your issue.

......what!? What was done to tell the mechanic that there are warped pistons. Did you check spark plugs? Load test battery and or starter? Compression and or leakdown tests, any check engine light codes? Anything other than hear say? We need facts.

Never heard of warped pistons. Used to tell people all the time that they had broken pistons (inside joke) but warped? Get a real tech to look at it.

The stalling is usually the IDLE CONTROL VALVE (IAC VALVE) it can also be a throttle cable being to tight, not a whole motor tear down. You also need to do the re-learn idle procedure. Does the motor knock or consume super excessive amounts of oil. Compression and leak down test. What other drivability problems??

Have never seen, nor heard of warped pistons on the s2k in 10 years of working on it, nor read about anyone having that issue over the entire world.

GO elsewhere, that is your best advice.

Thanks for all the responses. The engine doesn't run anymore so we are just going to drop a new engine in there ourselves.
