Has anybody tried a manual VTEC bypass? It would probably be pretty easy to rig a switch to just turn on the solenoid any time- perhaps a button under the left thumb. Might be interesting to play with at least. I could also imagine a two-switch bypass.( i.e.- If switch is on, AND throttle position exceeds a certain point near wide open,OR the ECU says "on", VTEC is engaged.) That way, you could modulate it with your foot. I know, I know... thinking overtime here-

My friend just did an all-freeway 2500 mile run and got about 25mpg average. I guess my car probably would as well- the cruise control does not share my(nor certainly your) heavy foot. You must really enjoy your car, gernby!(actually, I have to admit that my own gas mileage is getting lower and lower the more I drive)
I don't think I realized it until you mentioned it. My mileage seems to be getting worse as well. The really strange thing is that although my almost constant use of WOT, I don't think I VTEC as much as I used to.

gernby,
I averaged 25.6 mpg coming back from mineral wells today.

do you still run with the back up fuse out?

for everyone else, I do drive my car, hard on the track and my car is a everyday driver.

I regapped my stock plugs to .0043 from .0030 and got 2mpg better.

Installed denso Ik24's pregapped at .0032 and got 2.5 mpg better on this last tank. I run 93 octane all the time, the car has never had less than that. I myself have a heavy foot and can't wait for 3 bars on the temp sensor and hit 1st - 2nd all the time.

I have been leaving the Backup fuse in, since I am paranoid about forgetting to turn off the head lights.

I don't know what mileage I got coming home, but I did the trip there, the autocross, and part of the trip back (200 miles) on 10.5 gallons. That is probably the best mileage I've ever gotten for an autocross.

*sigh* Man, I just can't win here! Oh well, you can't say anything without stepping on somebody's toes I guess. Heck, I'd even be happy to delete the B*** (name) references but they're already quoted...
