I just did mine, excellent thread destiny, and thanks to xviper for helping me with other stuff. Gernby, I noticed that you said since you set your valves to .007 and .009 you need to check them more often. Is this to ensure that they do not get tighter and burn a valve? Or is it to ensure that they do not get looser and stay at .007 .009 since it may be harder to keep them there?

$2 would be too much. Valve adjustments are a TLC item. They can only be done "right" by you, or someone you know. I know this from experience.

gernby..... I read in one of your other posts on a different thread, that the first time you adjusted your valves you checked in the wrong area causing them to have a LARGE clearance and loss of power. Just curious, when you checked them in the correct area, just HOW off were they, maybe .012 exhaust and .011 intake ?

I agree with gernby, not only does the dealer tend to not touch the valves period, but they tend to only look for valves which are WAY out of spec and adjust them, rather than adjusting all the valves to the proper spec.

I didn't measure them, but they were probably higher, since the differences would be percentage based. I would guess that they were .012-.013 Intake and .016-.017 Exhaust.

wow no wonder you felt a power loss.... I did mine twice, once at .008 and .010 then a few days later at .009 and .011. At .008 and .010 it feels a TINY bit more powerful in the midrange, runs a little smoother, but I wanted them a little on the loose side, but still within spec, do you think this is bad gernby?
