>> S2000 Valve Adjustment, Step-By-Step
#131
Adjusted the valves on my newly acquired s2k the other night. I was getting CEL for misfires on 2,3,4, and it was running like crap. After the valve clearance adjustment, cleaning all electrical connectors/sensors, and a new tank of gas with Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubrication & Fuel Injector Cleaner added to the tank during fill-up, it is now running flawlessly after ~500miles, with no CEL or hesitation, also seems to be more responsive with the throttle. With just over 120,000 miles on a MY'00, I don't believe it has ever been adjusted, some were off by 4/1000

I just did mine, excellent thread destiny, and thanks to xviper for helping me with other stuff. Gernby, I noticed that you said since you set your valves to .007 and .009 you need to check them more often. Is this to ensure that they do not get tighter and burn a valve? Or is it to ensure that they do not get looser and stay at .007 .009 since it may be harder to keep them there?
I want more power!

just adjusted my valves. Set my intake to the tighter rec 8 and set exhaust to 10 spec. I was going to use 11 for exhaust since they tighten up over time but didn't wanna risk losing a bit of power in case I made it too loose.
Initially just like my 07 Honda Fit, all exhaust were WAY too tight that the tighter 10 spec didnt even fit and intake were all loose where the tighter 8 would have zero friction.
Car starts up and initial cold idle is now beautiful and leaving your hand on the motor produces almost no vibration.
Car is at 24,580 miles and I'm the first owner.

Can anyone explain to me why we need to adjust valves more often then Honda recommends ?
I mean, I have a thread here with multiple misfires at 30k miles on my 06 and 2 senior techs said I need valve adjustment....which I have to pay $300 bucks for ($60 for diag and $240 for adj.) I thought it has to be done at 90-100k miles per Honda....
Car was never raced, not modded.....

Jesus Christ, that doesn't sound right at all. Re-check your work, a little loose is fine but that's just insane.
