The manual has a really LONG service interval for valve clearance. I think it is something like 100K miles! I have 20K miles on my '02, and I've adjusted my valves 4 times.

I just hosted another valve adjustment tech day at my house. We adjusted valves on 5 cars, and in general, found that cars with 40-50k miles had loose intake valves. These were only 0.001-0.002 out of spec, but the gaps were 0.003-.004 larger than I like to specify on the intake valves. I adjust to 0.008" on the intakes and 0.010 on the exhaust valves.
