S2000 Starting Problem
Hello guys, Im having this terrible starting problem everytime I try and start it, it has this horrid grinding , then it finally turns over. and its pissing me off. I don't think its the starter because I just had it replaced and im sure its not the battery either because I just had that replaced also, Im assuming the teeth on the flywheel may be wearing out, but Im not sure. Let me know if you know what it could possibly be. Thank you !
Here's a youtube video:

when you say you just got the battery replaced... when did you get it replaced? just curious. Also, I couldn't really hear the grinding noise from the video but I feel like car is having hard time turning over(with dash flicking). Is the starter OEM and where did you get it installed? Details
What is that check engine light on for?

I got the Battery replaced at the dealer, its OEM of course, but the Starter itself is a Napa starter, I would buy an OEM one but its like 600+ at the dealer. Way out of my budget. The Check engine light is for the Front Oxygen sensor. I think it is the teeth on the flywheel, because my last starter I had before I replaced it, just spinned freely, and wouldnt turn the flywheeel at all. And now on my new starter would almost do the same thing. Other then the flywheel, is there any other part I should check, other then the battery, starter, and flywheel?

my mr2 had a problem with sticking starter. right after the engine turns over and starts. there would be a loud grinding noise sometimes and other times are like wet moving tires noise. fixed it with a shimmer from autozone.

OEM starter is $600!?!? maybe with labor... not part itself. I'm really against AM parts. Many of my customers declines work and takes to AM shop and comes back in a short time and ends up getting OEM parts in the end.
I believe they are around $250 the most for OEM starter. I like to point finger at starter first. I also have similar problem and I'm starting with oem starter. Was this DIY?

You got a crap starter from Napa. They do not address the bendix issue during the rebuild.
If your battery is new and up to charge, and your car cranks the way it does in that vid, your starter is garbage or you left a ground wire off (theres two right near the starter on the block)
