s2000 starter
hey guys, i have 92k miles on MY01. I just picked up a daily driver and the S is probably going in storage now. woo hoo! well anyways, my starter always grinds on start up after it sits for a couple days and since it is not my daily anymore i do not want my flywheel to get chewed up so i am looking for a new one. Napa auto has one for 166 with a 38 dollar core charge. ends up to be 119.xx total cost. It is made by Rayloc. Has anyone had good luck with a napa starter? i dont want to buy one then in 1 month it craps out.
I found this...http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...NP2800316.html
Should i get this instead? I really dont have 450 dollars to drop on a brand new OEM starter.

There are lots of junkyards that sell used S2000 parts on Ebay. You should be able to pick one up fairly cheap. If you would rather buy a new or rebuilt one, they sell them on ebay too. Here is a link to one being sold for $55 with free shipping.
I picked up a starter through the S2KI classifieds a while back for even less, but I picked it up with several other parts so I didn't need to worry about shipping.

Well you have to pull the air box, the lower intake maniford brace, the belt tensioner, the alternator and THEN use about a 2 foot extension to get to the top starter bolt. WATCH THE KNOCK SENSOR WHEN DOING THIS. If you break it (very easy to do) then it's costly to replace. Then jack up the car on the driver side and you have to reach up there to get to the bottom starter bolt. Light is your friend in this step. In short, no, it is not easy to get to. I wouldnt replace the starter until it goes out. Most S's have the grinding starter issue. Mine does it every now and then. No big deal.
