S2000 Rattle Under Car
Hello everyone.
Ive been having this problem where my car (2002) rattles very loud at:
10mph in 1st,
16mph in 2nd,
25mph in 3rd,
38mph in 4th.
It seems to be coming from the exhaust and sounds like a loud 'grr' as if the exhaust is rubbing the frame so I took it to Honda today to see what they thought. The guy heard the noise also, put it on a lift and looked at it but said it was normal with this car. I asked if he was sure because it gets so loud at times that it could wake up neighbors. He told me he was and there was nothing he could do. Anyone have this experience or ideas for a fix? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The heat shield on Honda's cats tend to rust and then rattle. But yours sounds more like what my old 2001 S was doing. The cat was falling apart from the inside and made noises around those speeds. I eventually started hearing it at idle (sometimes). After jacking up the car, I could knock on the cat to get it to make the noise (not as loud, and only worked 2/3 times). Replaced the cat with a used one and the problem was no mas.

It almost always is on slowing down. The previous owner says it has a ACT stage 2 clutch. Is there another clutch that does not have this problem?
Thanks again guys.
