S2000 engine in Quantum Kit Car
I have an S2000 engine fitted to my Quantum Xtreme kit car. It has a Rotex supercharger fitted by TTS at Silverstone and produces approx 295bhp.
An engine noise has recently developed, the source of which I am unable to identify. My best description is that it is a low frequency, bearing-like rumble which is not engine speed related. It can be heard clearly when listening (with screwdriver to ear) to the engine oil filter and external oil pipes. It can also be felt through the bulkhead. It becomes more noticeable as the engine warms up.
The engine has an external oil cooler, and the oil filter is mounted on the bulkhead. I've taken the baffled sump off and so far as I can see the pump, pump drive chain and tensioner are fine. The engine has probably completed about 22,000 miles from new.
If anyone can shed any light on what might be causing this noise I would be very glad to hear their suggestions.
Regards

Can't help you with the diagnosis but I'd love to see some pics/video of your car. It's pretty strange that the noise/vibration isn't engine speed related.

Ship your TTS supercharged engine to me and I'll send you my SOS supercharged engine in return. Then you won't have to worry about it anymore.
Kidding! Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Honestly, this would be much easier for us to help diagnose with pics. If you upload them to a photo sharing service like Flickr, then you can just link the photos in for us to view. Or go to your Gallery here at S2KI and upload them, then link to them.
This thread might get more answers in the Forced Induction forum. Lots of people there have done oil filter relocations, oil coolers, etc.
