Can we get photos of how bad it is? As mentioned, bubbling is often not rusted clean through. In which case sanding down to bare metal and repainting could be all that is required.

Assuming the shop you mention is your body shop, since they asked you to source a patch panel kit, it sounds liie they aren't comfortable fabricating a patch panel from scratch. Unless its really badly rusted, the patch shouldn't be that complex to fab.

It is the rear quarter. Have tried sanding to bare metal and zinc amalgam spray but on flatting and compounding to try getting the paint to match
it comes back. Have used rust converter and anti rust primer on the outside of the sill and this worked but its low down so the extra thick paint and color
difference is not noticeable. Not keen on the idea of over fenders. The idea of a rear half cut from a wrecked S2000 is a possibility - will see what's available
otherwise will have to trust the repair shop to make a good job. I think he was looking to use a kit from another car.

Rear wheel arches available internationally This is a company who have just put these into production. Search the uk and ireland community for "rusty wheel arches options" for pictures of the panels.

Thanks but they have now been repaired. They used mild steel pieces in a number of places as was not just the outer skin of the wheel arch.
For information they scan the paint to get a code for the paint machine. Apparently there is an online database of shades for each colour to match whatever has come out of the factory. Mine was Silverstone silver and there are four or five registered shades.

When they scan paint they are matching that paint on the car, with no regards to what paint mix was used by factory. Color may have faded, etc. So the machine scans the existing paint, and tells them what colors and glitters to mix for rhe system they are using at that shop to achieve the same color.

My paintshop seemed to be saying the scanner generates a code and this refers to an online database that has multiple shades that paintshops can add to. Eg he said there were 40 shades of red for one toyota. Didn't get the impression his paint machine analysed the scan and figured out how to replicate it.
