AEM will work but you will not pass emissions .
Best bet would be a Greedy E-Manage Ultimate with all harnesses . Yes its a piggy back but if you use the injector and ignition harnesses you can control everything after the ecu . Midrange power can be found in ignition timing , And it is OBD2 compliant
The Greedy can also work like a VAFC if you don't use the inj/ign harnesses but you will be in the same situation .
The third solution I am working on

You would be resetting the ECU a lot, plus when you have to give the ECU time to relearn the car and your VAFC might lose its settings.
Im still confused on what the greddy emanage does....

resetting the ECU wont help, unless you reset your ECU right before you tuned the VAFC.
read my last paragraph even though it is confusing I know I just re read it . But I have updated it in red below .
And resetting the ecu will not fix this problem as you will be on different set of tables than when you tuned the car on the dyno . And even if you reset the Ecu before you dynoed it was changing the shorterm and longterm trims on every pull , so your settings would keep on changing .
so you would see improvements without touching the VAFC for the first pull till around the 3rd or 4th pull .

Kayvan , I will be looking forward to your call .

Yes and No , You would have to reset the ECU every few minutes as you drive so the ECU never learns

If you notice when people are just making runs without tuning that the 2nd or 3rd run nets them the highest # without tuning anything , This is because you ECU has switch and retuned the maps for more aggressive driving . After that the #'s will stabilize and start dropping depending how many pulls you have mad due to heat soak .

Can you elaborate on that? Is it because of (lack of) ODBII?
and of coarse the lack of OBDII
