RSX-S, same brakes as us?
My coworker with an RSX-S tells me he heard the brake calipers/pads are the "same" as ours Anyone know if the disks are too? Seems like a good deal for us in terms of aftermarket parts if true.
He can't believe the long stopping distance quoted for the RSX but he noticed the rears are not contributing what they should so he's trying some Porterfield pads on the rear to see if that gives him a better brake balance (hard to add a bias knob when your brake circuit is an X-pattern).

Tires are my guess. The RSX is supposed to be very undertired. It also has more forward weight distribution than the s2000 which hurts braking a little too. So don't expect the same performance as the s2000 even though it weighs the same and has the same brakes. Good tires would probably get it fairly close though.

I think you meant the G4 or G5 Preludes had the same diameter rotors as the NSX. The rotor thickness was slightly less.
As for the RSX, having stickier pads in the rear will just cause some instability under braking since the rear is not as loaded under braking anyway. What the stock RSX needs are just stickier tires - use the S2000's rear tires for the RSX all around - it should brake pretty well. But may not be good in the wet.
That having been said, someone should try the RSX-R brembos...

That also means another, much larger, market for our board members who offer brake packages.
The RSX starts with a huge imbalance toward the front (safety?). There's no way his Durango tow vehicle should stop shorter than his RSX, but it does. He proved the front will lock (activate ABS) way before the rears. It is near impossible to lock the rear. The tires are much better than their M+S appearance, but yeah, they still suck.
It does sound like a dangerous technique (if you overbias the rear you'll never have a stable stop) but this fellow knows his cars and driving. He's won several regional Auto-X championships. This year he beats last year's CSP national champion at least 1/3rd of the time. He has used this technique before to adjust 'fixed' brake bias.

Well guys, it maybe all of our birthdays real soon. As it turns out, the RSX and S2000 do atleast share the same brake pad. And from what i see, the caliper is the same too. I will know for sure in the next week. I have an s2000 caliper in my hand and a rsx caliper type s on the way. Why our birthdays you may ask? A big brake kit for the rsx is being developed as we speak for it. If all is the same, obvously this will work for our s2k's as well. Its going to be a 4 piston billet caliper, 2 piece rotor and all the aircraft qaulity goodies for under 1000 dollars. Lets keep our fingers crossed guys. Oh yeah, the kicker, it will fit under the factory wheel. Happy motoring fellas
