I went to the store locator at acdelco.com and found an AC Delco parts store just north of Houston selling it for 7.99/qt.

The local Cadillac dealer wanted $10-11/qt. and the GM dealership wanted 12.34/qt.

i got 18,000mi on my car original fluid. is it to early?

how about the residual film left in the transmission. Will there be a foaming problem? Should i flush it out for a few 100mi and change again? to completely remove the original honda fluid. Or is that just a waste?
I've never gone anywhere near that long before changing my tranny oil. If you drain the tranny for a long time while it is still hot with the car level, you will get most of the old oil out. There wouldn't be any need to flush it.

gernby, i actually never knew i needed to replace manual transmission fluid, until i joined this forum. I have a nissan hardbady pickup with 100,000+ miles with the original transmission fluid. My civic was like that too, it got stolen. I probably won't mess it, but I'll change the S2's during the next oil change. thanks for the info.

I had an '86 Honda Civic SI that had 85K miles on its tranny oil before I found out it was supposed to be changed. When I had it changed, it was incredible how quiet it was. I'll bet you would notice a similar difference in your truck.

BTW, I think Nissan recommends ATF in their manual transmissions.
