So this has been happening a good amount of times but i have been thinking its normal. Usually when i turn the car on from cold start the rpms go from 1-2 and it does it until i press and let off the gas. Then it stops and i drive the car normally with no problems. Yesterday i turned the car on and instead of 1-2, it went from 1-3 1/2 and it kept doing it even when i press and let off the gas. When it warms up it does not happen again. Any ideas what it could be?

I have not cleaned the iac and no check engine lights. 2002 f20

When I had this problem, it was fixed by cleaning the map sensor:

Try cleaning the IAC and passage to the map as indicated above. There are DIYs on here with pics if you search.
