RPM's Dropping when just completed a stop

I find that my car does this when stoped, I tap on the gas while letting out the clutch in netral at which point the engine gets rough as it dips below 1000 rpm's. If I simply tap the gas without depressing and relesing the clutch it tends to not happen. Just my experience.
