ROYAL PURPLE SYNTHETIC OIL 75W90

Over 3 years of browsing forums and I've seen countless H22's experience excessive rocker wear with many oils, both dyno and synthetic. I've seen zero H22's have rocker wear, while using Royal Purple and haven't experienced any with mine. Alot of people have actually made the switch due to this. The theory is that the diminishing Zinc content in modern oil is the soul purpose of this issue; Royal Purple is high in Zinc. Royal Purple is actually not a true synthetic anyways, it's a synthetic blend.
I'm not saying that Royal Purple is the mother of all oil's, but to say it's crap is far from true. Then you bring marketing into the mix, yet you link us with a link from Amsoils site. It's not 3rd party if they had the test done. I'm not saying that Amsoils bad, just that you should look for a real independent test before you draw some conclusions. It's like the merical 20hp gain from intakes, that every company states.

I run Amsoil 5w40 in the engine and I love the way it runs with this oil, very quiet and smooth. I'm sticking with Honda MTF in the tranny though.

3. Not too long ago, I pulled the valve cover and cams to do my AP2 retainers. Oil looked good up in the head, and would move with silky smoothness (this would be 1500 miles after my last oil change)

Curious as to why your using 5/40 the 10/30 ATM is by far superior to the 5/40 AFL. Look at the TBN and the noack ratings. I used the 5/40 for a bit when one of the Amsoil gurus pointed this out to me as well. I took advice elsewhere rather than researching myself, I got lazy. You may want to look at the 10/30 ATM if you want the best Amsoil has to offer.

I gotta say that running the 5w40 makes my engine eerily quiet, it sounds like fine watch, and the engine feels very smooth, I like how it feels. I haven't noticed any performance loss or mpg loss, though I understand that it could be happening, it just isn't noticeable. I also haven't burned a drop of oil in 600 miles, so far so good. I started the car and drove it about one day a month over the winter season, the 5w40 worked well on cold starts despite frigid temps. I'll have the oil analyzed and go from there. The car had Syntec 10w30 in it when I got the car, I prefer the way the car runs and feels with Amsoil 5w40, I'd go out on a limb and say the car feels stronger running Amsoil 5w40 over Castrol 10w30, but that's just my impression, no hard facts. Either way I like it. It's a recommended viscosity from Honda so no worries on my part, I'm also a bit old school about having a bit thicker viscosity for high revving motors. I'll see how it goes, thanks for the recommendation.
