I have used royal purple in the past and have been very happy with it. I stopped using it recently though due to the fact that its about 8 bucks a quart. I switched over to mobil-1 and i can get a 5 qu jug of that at walmart for like 21 bucks.

Its all a matter of personal preference. I have tried different oils in different cars, including penzoil, rp, mobil1, quakerstate, valvoline, and castrol.

alot of people reccomend 5w30, so use rp or mobil1. to me they are close to each other in results. I might be switching back to royal purple soon though, just because i like it a little better than mobil1

good luck and just use what you like

Realistically though, I doubt it makes much difference. Use any major brand at the recommend weight and the results are probably the same provided scheduled changes are observed.
Well put. Any good major brand syn, or even the good "boutique" brands like Schaeffer's, will give reliable service with reasonable OCI's and good filtration. Let's not forget the good mineral oils like Havoline, either.

Im running 10w30 RP. I plan to switch back to Mobil 1 next time around.

No complaints with the RP other than I have a rough time reading it on the dip stick because of the color. I still think my car ran better with Mobil 1 in it, but maybe thats my OCD kicking in

Royal Purple is what you get when marketing people make oil. BS.

Run something designed by engineers

The only "different" coloured fluid that has been a "good" idea is brake fluid.

I wish more manufactures did that so you can swap between the 2.

Redline's gear oil goes in red and comes out baby poo brown (smells like baby poo too).
