I have used Mobil 1 since new and I just bought some RP 10/30 to try out. I also went with Redline MTF this time round instead of GMsm for the trans. Just trying something new

The car runs fine with any SAE 5/10W30 motor oil. Personal preference and OCD will guide you.

Now you can make up your own mind whether or not "it sucks". The owner of bitog uses RP 15W40 in his truck, too. FWIW. So if you use it in your car, you're in pretty good company.
Now THATS interesting. I admit it's been quite a while since I've looked at anything. But I clearly remember the RP brand being trashed over and over on that site.

My only question. You provided 4 links. How many links did you have to go through to find them?

Did they do anything different in the last 5 years?

Those were the first four I came across. I didn't even read them before linking to them. Totally random. There are dozens of pages of UOA's on bitog, so I'm sure if one tried hard enough, they'd find good and bad UOA's for just about every oil. But those four were completely random.

I looked the stuff up a long time ago over there. Everyone hated it and I have never looked back.

I guess ignorance is bliss

I've been using the GC 0w30 all year.

I run a dry sump system on my F20C engined kit car and tend to change my oil every few thousand miles as most of those are done on the track and have had no problems with Royal Purple though I still prefer Motul 300V 5W30 but I would happily recommed RP to anyone.

I'm going to go with Mobil 1 AFTER the first oil change @ 7500mi confident that it probably can't get too much better. Realistically though, I doubt it makes much difference. Use any major brand at the recommend weight and the results are probably the same provided scheduled changes are observed.
Certain brands give us a sense of security which is good and may be the main reason why we should use only brands that make us feel this way. Weather it's RP, QS or Pennzoil, and the oil feels right to you, that is the only thing that counts.
