Default Rough Shifting

I am one of those amateur drivers that went from an Integra to an S2000 AP2, and am having problems with the shifting.

What is the proper way of doing it?

After the transmission warms up it gets better, but I still get some of the crunch from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Double clutching does help, but I don't think that it's normal to have to double clutch every time to get smooth up shifting. What am I doing wrong?

Some people say that it's normal, some people say that there is something wrong with the transmission, some people say there is something wrong with my driving. I have been driving stick shift cars all my life and have never had this problem before.

The dealer is about to take my transmission apart, and I think that in the end, that will just bring more problems.

Try varying your shifter technique. The gates sometimes are hard to find if the shift lever isn't operated just right. I've also found that depressing the clutch, combined with different combinations of releasing the gas pedal, and the speed (not force) of the shift can improve the so-called "notchiness" of the transmission.

Change your transmission fluid.

You shouldn't have to "double-clutch" while upshifting.

you shouldn't have to double clutch unless your synchro isn't doing it's job...

depress the clutch pedal completely...wait a second, then go to 2nd.

This can be noticeable for me when I drive around town as well... I find that my shifts are much smoother when shifting briskly rather than at a leisurely pace.... next time you are out DDing the s2000 try shifting at a slightly faster pace even in stop and go traffic... works for me.

How many miles do you have on your S?. Also do you know when the trans. fluid was last changed? I had the same problem coming from an Accord stick shift, I have been able to 'compensate' the way I shift on mine, normal driving I bring it to 4K and move the lever in 2 motions slowly in every gear, it takes practice, when I get on it hard it shifts fine.

Another thing to try is changing the RPM at which you shift. I have found on my AP1, shifting from 1->2 goes the smoothest around 4.5k when cold. Shifting sub 3.5k from 1->2 isn't as seemless as above that.

Best bit of advice would be to change your transmission fluid (the Honda stuff is top notch), and then experiment with your shifting technique.

I see your vehicle is an 05'. If your dealer is wanting to disassemble this while you are warrantied I would bet there is something wrong. If not try the drain and fill as mentioned above.
