Rough idle, radio/ car will shut off at low rpms
Hello ladies/ gents,
I have a 2000 with 130k. I got a code for a loose gas cap/ Evaporator Purge solenoid/ in general the fuel evap system parts, since then its had problems shutting off driving at low rpms usually with the tank at low(2-3 bars) usually rolling up to a stop sign/ stop light/ driving at low speeds in parking lots. Also stuttering forward like when you let off the gas at high rpms in say 3 ed gear, only you have the gas still in and it just does it by it self, and idling like crap. Now here is where it gets interesting, my guage cluster is also constantly flashing, not enough to shut on and off, but you can see a definite dimming and brightning in it like a pulse, it does it usually at idle.
It seems like a fuel evap system problem, where should i start? where are the evap system parts located on the car, what are the most common ones to cause a problem like this/ go out on our cars. As far as the gauge cluster- battery/ alternator? I recently had to push start because i drained the battery enough to not turn over the starter. Are these two problems related or no?

Sounds like ur purge solenoid is stuck open. Purging is only supposed to happen at highway speeds for this reason. As for the lighs flickering check the batt voltage while the car is idling. Should be mid 13s to mid 14s.
