Roof Torn where B Pillar would be, is there a fix?
Hey all,
I am aware this is a common problem & i have done loads of searches which have mentioned it, however besides haggling with Honda for a replacement under warranty (if you still have one) or replacing the roof (no warranty), there doesnt seem any options.
So my questions are has anyone done any fixes, repairs etc?
I've noticed that mine has torn on the drivers side about 10mm & looks relatively new as the material hasnt parted a great deal. The passengers side seems ok at the moment, but i'm guessing that'll go soon as well.
I was also wondering if you could apply an adhesive when the roof is up to in effect act as a patch bond to stop the tear splitting any further?
oh & also are there any preventative measures that can be taken.
Cheers
Brent

It doesn't look pretty, but try this:
Tear-Aid Type B
http://www.tear-aid.com/
It kept the rain out until I got a new top installed, and my tear was about 4" or so.

------ UPDATE -----
Ok so had a chat with our adhesives/composites guy in work this morning & he agreed defo worth a try.
So some structural adhesive in hand ((ITW Plexus MA300) that according the tech sheet "is an excellent choice with vinyl), a nossle & a glue gun i got to it.
Ran a small bead along the split to act as more of filler really & left it to cure.
Unfortunately the stuff drys a kinda off cream colour, but as its only a minute bead so not really obvious. Plus i recon with some careful black touch up i could blend it in further.
So . . . Thats where i am at for now.
(Glad to report no fingers or eyes stuck together either).

In the cheapie ghetto vein, I have a couple of small wear areas that I simply coated with black silicon rubber and smoothed with my finger. It's shiny, unlike the top material, but is a small area and seems to work well. The main thing was quick and cheap, not a finished product...
