Default Roof latch need maintinance?

I recently replaced the roof latch part on my driverside. After hooking it onto the top on the upswing to lock it it gets extremely hard and it does not simply clip like the other side does. Also when I unlock it it doesn't come off smoothly, its like it has very tight tolerances and it also makes weird creaking noises when locking/unlocking it. Is it bad or do I need to oil it or something?

Default

I usually spray a very small amount of wd-40 on the moving parts inside the latch.
