Default Right muffler on AP2 insulated?

Hey all. I was looking closely at my exhaust system, which I believe is totally stock and noticed that the right muffler has an additional plate welded on the rear end and the bumper has an additional piece of black plastic on the inboard side of the muffler cutout. Is this factory? Why wouldn't Honda insult the left bumper if it is?

Yes that is normal, probably heat related.

I've noticed that too. I'm thinking it may be because the way the exhaust is angled at the split from single to dual that the right side of the split gets more exhaust flow and gets hotter. Just a guess.
