The metal dust went through the whole gearbox, the S2k gearbox has an oil pump.
Every bearing had the oil and this dust in it, and that is why you find so much of it.
There is a magnet in the trans too, I think this is now completely covered in metal paste and it lost its capacity to hold more = free flowing metal dust = BAD.
Like domino, one falls and there goes the rest.
Option #1 - just a reverse kit and an oil flush - or two - will not get this trans back in any reasonable condition.
Option #2 - with a fixed reverse you'll have the best shifting S2k trans EVER.
Every part is now worn-in and matches its counterpart with unprecedented precision.
It would be nice.. but I don't think so.

However if the transmission was faulty at sale pointing fingers in public will help others steer clear.
Once again I completely understand if your not sure.

it looks like the reverse retaining bolt is simply not there anymore. i never took a look for missing bolts on the tranny when I got it because I Didnt think anyone would remove any of the housing bolts for no reason....
I think they removed the bolt thinking it was the fluid fill point.... then when they got it back in they saw something was up and sold it to me.
the guy isnt responding at the moment
