Default Reverse gear is 100% GONE

the tranny is a used AP2 unit I bought from a member on here, it shifts dead smooth and without issue cold or warm 1st-6th. But as of today it has no and I mean NO reverse. I went to back into a spot at the bank heard a clunk and a grind and now it doesnt move at all in reverse with the clutch fully out.

-The shifter does move to R without a problem the light come on and everything
-Shut car off on a hill, put in R position, let off clutch, the car rolls down the hill like its in neutral
-in the forward gears now there is a bouncing noise almost like a gear bouncing off other gears only while moving. Ill drain the fluid tomorrow
-New slave and new fluid bleed properly with the slave unbolted
-Master doesn't leak
-Fresh honda MTF about 2k on it
-Clutch pedal is adjusted correctly
-Can't hear or feel any kind of "engagement" when shifting into R like I can into 1-6

I'll poke around more tomorrow but would love to get a list of things to check over before I decide to pull the tranny again....

Before everything: the plastic bushings of the shifter itself are all there and all ok?

This makes me think its the idler gear.
Reverse is taken from 1st gear of the main shaft, via an idler gear to the countershaft, this extra gear makes it reverse.
If that idler is not in gear with both 1st of the main shaft AND reverse on the countershaft = no reverse.
As far as I know: selecting reverse is no different from selecting any other gear = you move a synchro (yes, even reverse has a synchro) and a splined hub to connect a free-wheeling gear to a shaft.

That idler gear is on a short shaft, and hold in place by one bolt.
This bolt should be visible from the outside, as far as I can tell from drawings in the service manual: on the clutch fork & slave side.
And its close to the mating surface - the "gearbox side" of the bell housing.
Its an 8mm bolt, most likely 12mm hex head (or 13, but Honda 8mm bolts usually are 12mm hex)
Sorry, I can not explain it better and I have no real pictures.

So: check the gearbox for loose or missing bolts.
If everything is ok, IMO its a internal problem.

If the pin that goes through the internal shift lever isn't fully installed you will have no reverse. The trans case has to be separated to repair. The pin is held in by a bolt from the outside of the case.
