Raising the redline will not result in any more power. If you look at any dyno charts mapping horsepower and torque for the S2000 (or any other Honda for the matter), they both drop well before the redline. All you will do is affect the reliability of the engine not to mention potentially blowing it up. And then what?

it might not result in higher peak power, but it might result in a better power band. Say you shift at 8900 where youre making 190whp and the rpms drop to 6300 where youre making 160whp. You increase redline to 9200 where youre making 180hp and you shift to 6600 rpm where youre making 176hp your avg across the board will be higher. just pulled those numbers out of my ass but you get the idea.

that's an interesting theory vtec9. you would just have to verify that more is gained on the bottom than lost at the top. however, i wouldn't do it for only 10- whp with the forementioned risks. and i certainly wouldn't do it to look cool (hint hint).

I use to own JUN valve spring on my B-series. I end up rev-ing the car 10k -11k all the time and whenever I shift it made a psszzz sounds on my engine(kinda like blow-valve). After a month or so, The engine broke down result from piston ring/piston getting fried. I learn that blow-valve noise was air leaking thru piston ring.

uh oh.. I think I've heard that on my S2K when shifting in VTEC. Happened on two seperate occations when I would shift at high rpms.. I don't mean two shifts. I mean one time I redlined 1st, 2nd, 3rd and I heard it each time. Maybe 2 months later I heard it again. I've shifted at or near redline hundreds of times before and after without hearing it. I would definitely describe it as a blow-off valve type noise. Can anyone shed light on the situation?
