Just like air filters, oil filters filter better after they get some miles on them. The trick is to change the filter out before it restricts oil flow to the engine or opens the bypass. Honda says two oil changes for one oil filter. I go 15k to 16k miles on the oversize oil filter I run on my '06 S and even if I ran the stock Honda oil filter I would run it for two oil changes.

I bought 5 new Corvettes during the 70s-80s and every Owners Manual recommended a filter change every other oil change. I'm sure it's fine but it is also very cheap to change the filter with each oil change. Do what you like, it's not going to make any difference.

There is absolutely no problem with going two oil changes on an EaO filter. Heck, you can go three oil changes.
I go 40,000 miles on each EaO filter, and I have been doing this for years. This is with a bypass filter and Amsoil AZO 0W-30 oil.

Here is a link to my UOAs.

I have used a mesh filter on another car in the past, and even at 10 microns, very little actually gets trapped by the oil filter. When I cleaned out the mesh, I was always amazed at how little was trapped by the filter.

If you are apprehensive, here is what I suggest: Use the filter for two oil changes and send a sample in for a UOA after the second oil change interval. Once you see the results, your mind will be put to rest.

1. I have done oil changes 2x yr. using Mobil 1 and changing out the filter each time. I only put about 11-12k/yr. on the S, it's my "work" car, driven through Indy winters.
2. I stepped up to Amsoil (the 25k oil, that I get for $8/qt.)last change this fall, using their filter, and will now only change 1x/yr, including filter.
3. I have no problem using either the oil or their filters, that's their specialty, and has been for decades, so I have confidence they're not using an inferior filter with a superior oil, too much to lose.
4. I have waited for decades to have a car worthy of the Amsoil! The family car has been Corollas for decades; I get tired of they last one before they wear out, ha!

Maybe you would have only needed one Corvette if you changed your oil filter with every change

Corvettes are pretty rough on the wallet either way. I am not impressed by their reliability.

No your wrong. Very reliable in most cases and routine parts are cheap. It is afterall a Chevy. This doesn't mean they don't come without aggreviation. Squeeks, rattles and water leaks come to mind and the cheap plasticized interiors. AC systems were never on par in any of my Yettes. Still, a cool ride if your demands and expectations aren't too high regarding common features relating to comfort. To be fair though, they are probably much better nowdays.

I work at an autoparts store, see a lot of them floating in and out for various parts and seals. I have owned two, one was a 79, the other an 84. Neither one of them knocked my socks off, and the 79 was notoriously unreliable. IDK about the newer ones, but the interior is still lacking.

anyway... back to oil filter, i am interested for an answer
