Default Resetting the computer for better hp??

Say you added aftermarket parts such as the following, HKS exhaust, Headers, and an Injen CAI, would resetting the stock computer before a 1/4 time improve the time and the HP??? I know the computer compensates for the leaner mixture, so wouldn't resetting before dyno's, lap and 1/4 times be helpful?? Shouldn't it help the HP and of course the accompanied engine rumble=)?? Maybe i'm wrong, im just learning though!

This is true for other Hondas. I don't know that anyone here has actually done it for dyno or quarter slips back-to-back to see if things improve.

not sure it would improve. this ECU learns over time. so, some mods it will actually improve over a week or several hundred miles instead of immediate changes.

If you do dyno or run the car at the track, you should experiment at the end of the day and see what it actually does.

Again, I can't speak for the S2... but on every Honda I've seen thus far (made since '96), power is gained by resetting the ECU after breathing mods (including cams, gears, etc.). So much gain (the computer learns quick) that many have rigged up the ECU to switch the backup power to it to keep it from learning, period.

UL and I have chatted as to advantages and disadvantages of this... namely ignition. UL contends that the ignition map is modified through learning and improves power/combustion over time. In practice, I haven't seen this, but don't doubt it possible.

I've seen at least one dyno plot of an H22 that made 5HP more with an ECU reset (back to back runs). A little too far above the noise level to be considered "noise" IMHO.

On the H22 Prelude this mod also allows the use of a test pipe, as the computer looks at subsequent run cycles to determine cat failures. When you reset the ECU each time you drive... it never has a second run to compare to.

Why don't you just replace the stock ECU for let's say a Spoon Sports ECU to go with your mods?
