Resetting Code before Emissions Test

Resetting Code before Emissions Test
Hi - sorry if this has been covered before.
I have an annoying gas cap problem with my 2002 in that it gets loose from time to time and triggers CEL. I've replaced it before w/ OEM Honda cap but it still comes loose. Anyway, I'm due for an emissions inspection soon and was wondering if I need to have the codes cleared (or ECU reset?) before taking it in. At the moment, CEL is not on since it cleared itself.
Thanks!

The cap does not come loose.
It doesnt seal because the threads bind before the cap can seal. Just make sur you squeeze the outside of the cap and tighten till you feel the seal make comtact.
If you clear the ECU before inspection, you will fail for incomplete monitors.

Correct.
The entire term "loose" gas cap should be eliminated. Its never loose, just not tightened down far enough to seal. The cap clicks/ratches because the threads are grabbing before the seal seats on the filler neck.
The permanent fix is a new filler neck...not cap.
