I recently broke a stud on one of my front wheels and I plan to replace it this weekend. I have the wheel and rotor off of the car right now. It looks like the hub must be removed from the knuckle in order to replace the stud. Does anyone know how to replace a wheel stud without removing the hub from the knuckle? Any help on this subject will appreciated.

The hub needs to be pulled out of the wheel bearing. The wheel bearings inner race will stick to the hub, and the bearing will no longer be sealed.
Plan on replacing the bearing as well.
The Bearing must be pressed/driven out of the knuckle after the snap ring behind the hub is removed.
Basic steps are:
1. Remove rotor and caliper from knuckle
2. remove knuckle from car.
3. remove cover on back of knuckle to access nut on the hub.
4. press out hub
5. remove snap ring
6. press out bearing
7. reinstall bearing
8. Cut old bearing race from hub. A cutoff wheel, and a chisel to "crack" the race works well. So does heating with a torch while spinning the hub slowly in a drill press. Wear eye and body protection.
9. drive in new stud.
10. Press in hub, reinstall everything else on car. etc. etc.
