Bumpstop (tan foam part) is not fighting you. Are you sure all parts are in order, pushing it down is not hard, and 1" seems like a lot.

Is the shock fully extended? 1/2" of necessary compression seems to be what I remember, from the tophat top bushing to thread #1 on the piston rod. That was on MY02 or MY00 front springs (can't remember exactly).

The pics are somewhat inconclusive, since what's really needed is a pic of me trying to force the fewking thing down...and THAT'S not happening. In these pics you can see that the threaded shaft is basically level with the top of the spring. Then the top hat goes on, which probably adds another 1/4"-3/8", then the black rubber piece, which I assume is the bump stop. That piece is about an inch thick, so at a minimum, the spring needs to compress by 1-1/4" in order for the first thread to appear. And actually, I need considerably more, since I can't perform the compression with the bump stop in place, because the threaded shaft needs the bump stop to center it in the top hat in the first place.

The part you refer to as a bump stop is not that, which I think could be confusing people.

What's the spring rate? Multiply by the distance you need to compress to get some idea of weight you'll have to put on it...

Thanks, Bruce. That will help. I'm referring to item #6, which obviously is not a bump stop, I see now. Everything else appears to be in the right location, and before I start attempting to compress, I verify that the spring ends are in their correct positions as well. I realize that the springs have to be oriented very specifically in their end plates in order to be correct.

#6 is the top hat bushings, did you know that the ones on the Integra Type R also work and are stiffer than on the s2000? The metal sleeve is supposed to be the meat in the bushing sandwich.

The S2000 and ITR have the same tophat bushing construction. They both are metal reinforced.
