Default Replacing Rotors

I have 55k on a MY04 S and I'm about to change the rotors all around for the first time in the car's life. Front pads have been changed twice, rears never.

The thing is, I expect that removal and replacement of the rotors isn't as simple as "take off the old and put on the new."

My question is this:

What are the finer points of changing the rotors (and pads for that matter) that I should be sure to NOT miss?

Also, is this something that the honda service manual would "walk me through?" I have not gotten the manual as of yet because I'm not sure it's content would be what I expect.

Any thoughts??? Thanks.

You'll probably need an impact driver to get the little retaining screws out. Other than that, it's pretty straight forward and simple.

There's a writeup here https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=548714

It's pretty straight forward.

I just got done rebuilding the brakes on my MY06. Feel free to shoot me a line if you have questions. Biggest pain in the ass is getting the retaining screws out - buy an impact driver, it is worth the $20 and will save you a hell of a lot of trouble!

The retaining screws are soft, drill the head. You can replace them or leave the out.

Also, my S was originally from Virginia and in addition to removing the retaining screws, I used two 2-inch long 8M (I think this is the size) bolts on the rotor to force it out. The exposure to snow/salt caused some underbody corrosion on my car - even pulling the wheel off after removing the lug nuts was quite a task.

Take a sturdy screw driver that fits TIGHT on to the screws. Or esle you'll strip it. Than if the screw aren't coming out, hit the end of the screw driver with a hammer as you trying to loosen them . Should work just fine on car with your mileage.

Otherwise do what the people up top telling you to purcahse.

To answer your question I would do the following.....

-Rotors all around
-Pads all around
-Brake Fluid Flush
-Paint Calipers, might as well right?

No need to replace them just "because"

Unless they are out of round and causing a vibration or at/under the minimum thickness.
