Replacing rod bearings?

Default Replacing rod bearings?

So i bought a new crank and figured i would just replace all the bearings. i'm aware that they are color coded but it doesnt make sense to me. The rod bearings go A-G, while the main bearings are A-F. Can someone explain how i would go about ordering them? Thanks...

I Have a shop doing it for me but i'm getting the parts myself.

Each journal has slightly different tolerances and as a result different thickness bearing are required to achieve the same oil clearances. The weird bit comes when you find out that one particular journal requires two different size shells.

Just submit the block and crank numbers to the Honda parts rep and let them work it out. Or get your parts through Slow and he will document it nicely for you. Just did my short block rebuild on the weekend.

Who is slow?

I'm actually ordering my parts through majestic honda. Everything is set except for the bearings. So I just give my block # to the parts rep and wait for the crank to get in and give them that # as well...

Bearing selection is covered in the service manual. Decoding them isn't something I do for everyone....

I have the service manual and just couldn't locate it. The book that is. I understand how to decode it now. I'll just wait till my new crank and rod comes in... Thanks for the help
