Default Replacing differential mount

Well, one of my diff mounts is gone.. For some reason when I got the diff replaced by Honda they decided not to cover that under warranty (shrug) - so I was looking at another 400 bux or so including labor/parts to fix it and a few more days wait for my car..

I decided to drive on it..

But it's getting bad now and I don't want to risk the diff going bad... so I might jsut take it to honda but before I do I'm curious if anybody has ever done this before and could provide a walkthrough and how hard it mightbe?

I'd rather pay the 100 and some change for the mount and do it myself

Once you get under there, you'll see how rediculously easy it is to change those out. You must have a means to support the diff in the position found since you are going to remove one of its attachment points (a second jack or a bunch of lumber).
There should only be one nut and two bolts to undo to get the mount free. Undo the end nut from the shaft that goes to the bracket that hold the side of the diff in place. Then remove the two bolts that hold the mount to the frame. You should then be able to slide the mount straight back from the bracket shaft.
BTW, nut = 47 lb/ft; bolts = 33 lb/ft.

To help visualize, it is the red colored bolts:

A very simple proceedure, looks like another dealer attempted rip off.

I actually have a rear sub frame in my garage. If you are interested, PM me an offer and I will pull them off.

My mount went bad at about 4k miles. Easy to do. They even did it on the alighnment rack. Took about 30 minutes. The tech took off the sway bar (mount and joint) then removed the bolts. Piece of cake to do.

As others have mentioned, the replacement is pretty straightforward. I'd contact Stratocaster and take him up on his helpful offer and at least save some money on the part(s).

What was the reason for the dealer not replacing it under warrantee?
