Default Replacing 04 engine/transmission with one from 07?

Well like the title says, I'm trying to replace the engine and transmission from my 2004 S2K with one from a 2007 (long story but my current engine has bent valves and has high mileage, so I thought I would just change the entire thing). I know that the throttle body will have to be replaced with the one from the 04 due to the DBW system. I was just hoping to get a list of things to watch out for to make this engine swap seamless. I'm assuming I would keep my current ECU, but will I have any connection problems with the new engine? I would greatly appreciate any advice or input. Thanks again.

I believe there are LOTS of other differences related to emissions between the '04 and '07. I would send marcucci a PM about it.

The heads are differant and intake manifolds are differant. The differances are emissions related. Also there was changes to the sensors (Crank and Cams) that will need to be back dated to work with the older ECU.

So to do this, it would be best to install a 00-05 head on the motor. The 06+ head does not have the emissions ports that will be required.

The 06+ intake will need to be removed, and your old intake (Loaded) will need to be installed. This means the injectors, fuel rail, ect.
You will also need to swap the 06+ crank sensor and dtrigger wheel with yours, and the cam sensors and trigger wheel w/valve cover.

1. Swap Older head with DBW head.
2. Swap Loaded intake manifolds.
3. Swap Crank sensor
4. Swap Crank trigger wheel for crank sensor
5. Swap valve covers w/sensors
6. Swap intake cam trigger wheels
7. Swap engine wiring harnesses

Also a KPro users are interested in the parts you will be removing as part of this swap. I.E. The sensors, triggers and valve cover.

Honestly, it seems that the real benefit to replacing your '04 with an '07 is that you could easily swap in the flashable ECU also (tunable via FlashPro). If you want to keep the '04 ECU, then it wouldn't make any sense to me not to just get another '04 or '05 engine. I'm sure there are plenty available with low miles.

I have to agree. if I was to do it, I would do it all. DBW and FlashPro are great reasons to swap forward instead of back.

Thanks for the info guys. If I was to go forward with a complete transition to the 07 system, what else would I need to buy/upgrade on my 04? I only have the 07 ECU currently that I recieved with the engine and transmission.

Will you get the engine harness too? That is about it, assuming you are getting a full swap. But since youare getting teh ECU, I will assume you are getting the harness as well.

You will need the VIN of the car the motor and ECU came from, once installed, you will need to have a Honda Dealer program the your keys into the new ECU.

There will be some extra parts in your car, that you will no longer need. I am unsure about what else you would need to change in the car's wiring beyond the ECU to support the DBW.

This is interesting. I thought about doing this same thing. I have over 100k on my car...i'm boosted however..

I wanted to eventually get kpro, but really didnt wanna open up my motor to install the parts with this many miles on the car. So i thought about just getting a dbw motor and just doing the reflash...

YEEES!!!! RETURNLESS FUEL SYSTEM!!!! i forgot about that!!

This is good.. wonder what else?

I have the 1052U... but emmissions passing may become an issue in a couple of years
