watch out for foam filters, they are great for flow and best for turbo/sc application. but using it as CAI filter or with spoon snorkel it's a bad idea.

why is it a bad idea? what experiences do you have proving this?
it's bad because most of the foam filter is very poor in filtering( but with increase of air flow), go search on google for filtering result. cotton/paper will ALMOST always better at filtering than foam filter.
second, my hks filter was not serviceable. you have to replace it everytime it 's dirty, most people don't realize that.
third, most of the CAI filter is very dirty(given the same time vs. sri, or stock) due to the location of the filter. Paring it up with a poorer filtering element doesn't make much sense to me.
that's why most of the foam filter originally was to be used on turbocharged application, back then people neither don't run a filter at all or they run a mesh over it. foam filter provide a better compromise for street application for turbo'ed car i guess, since the turbo needed the high volume of air to be compressed and the location of the filter usually inside the hood(vs. sticking out at the bumper like CAI)
again, i wouldn't use it on mine for everyday, maybe for track or autocrossing.

you took the wordz out of my mouth, the only good thing about k&N is it's reuseable, but do notice the gained flow is achieve by reduced filtering.
is there other k&N owner out there notice the mileage drop? i replaced my K&N with oem(new btw) when i was cleaning the filter, i leave the oem on the car for couple of day and it turns out 26+ mpg(not bad for many vtec shift, a/c on all the time)

i'd say k&n if you didnt want to keep changing the filter and spend the 50 and get it out of the way for awhile but if changing the filter and spending that 25 bucks all the time to have the oem part get a honda filter. cant go wrong with oem
