I don't understand. What does that mean?

George, I would go along with those who say to bleed it the old fashion way - can't hurt to try it. It's been my experience that the problem usually is the master cylinder when it won't bleed out. The other thing I might suspect is the proportioning control valve.

As soon as I can find a pedal pusher I will bleed them again. I sure hope it's not the master cylinder.

When you use the speed bleeders, the pedal pressure pushes fluid out at a relatively gradual pressure. If you pump the brakes with the bleeder closed to build up pressure, then open the bleeder quickly, that pressure is released significantly faster, and can dislodge air bubbles that are clinging to flat surfaces inside the caliper. I bled and bled using the speed bleeders when I replaced my front calipers. When I did an 'old fashoned' bleed, I dislodged a fair bit of air and it solved my 'mushy pedal'.

SC, thanks - that's much clearer. It sounds like speed bleeders when used under these circumstances are likely the problem. The S2000 is my first experience with them and they seemed to work great for what they are intended to do. I've have only changed pads and not calipers on this car.

Thanks Everyone

The Old fashioned way worked like a charm ( 3 litres of ATE later)

Turns out I had bubbles in 3 of the 4 calipers. My brakes are back.

That's good news. I put a note in my file to do the same when the time comes.
