Replace valve cover gasket after adjusting valves?
Was reading through some of the DIY info on this and can't really tell for sure. Some friends who own other cars swear that replacing the gasket is essential.
I did this adjustment many years ago (ie.., about 20) on a 1990 Integra. Wasn't too bad and I don't think I had to replace the gasket.
Just the same, I thought I'd check. Today is probably my last chance to order one from a dealer before the big weekend, which I plan on spending quite a bit of with my S2K (valves + stereo upgrade).
Thanks,
D

Inspect the gasket for tears or irregularities. You don't technically "have" to change the gasket but seeing as their not to awful expensive I would go ahead and do it while your at it so you wouldn't have to go back and do it later. Oh and most valve cover gaskets come with new spark plug tube seals too which keep oil from entering where the spark plugs coils are.

I've never had to replace the gaskets on a Honda, but I've always kept a spare set in my tool chest just in case. If your gasket is 10 years old, I'd definitely want to have a replacement available in case it falls apart.

BTW, adjusting the valves on an S2000 is different from a 1990 Integra. Make sure you measure the clearances between the valve and rocker arm, and NOT between the roller rocker and cam lobe.
