Replace the clutch,Replace the flywheel?
Mornin'
I'm having my clutch replaced next week, got 70K no problems, just feels like its time for the clutch. I bought an daikin clutch kit which i'm going to have a shop install.
So i'm wondering, do i need to replace the flywheel too? I've heard different stories. I cant really afford one right now, so i guess i would wait until i can get my hands on one. I've had the car for about 25K, never took it to the track, don't know if the previous owner did. i'm generally pretty easy on the clutch.
Oh and will an 06 flywheel fit for my 02?

I agree with the post above, maybe the shop can resurface it for you. If not, but a new flywheel and if it isn't needed, return it for a refund. HTG has the lightweight CT flywheel.

i can pick up one through AUTOZONE. they're only $75 plus core. I talked to the vendor they said it's resurfaced but meets oem specs. They said it may only be sandblasted and cleaned up, what should i make of that?

Most people who cut flywheels cheat because they are lazy, or lack the proper dowel removal tool.
The only way to properly resurface the flywheel is to step-grind it. The dowels must be removed to do this.
IE...you grind say .005 off the friction surface. You must then grind .005 off of the outer step. If not you will reduce the clamp load, and you may get chatter.
If done correctly a cut flywheel will perform like new.
